Description

Asado is the technique and the social event of having or attending a barbecue in various South American countries, especially Argentina. In the camp-style Asado, the fire is lit to form coal which is then moved aside, and the grill is placed in the original fire spot where the food is cooked slowly between 1 to 4 hours depending on the type of ingredients. While simultaneously on the side a small fire is kept alight to secure the constant supply of coal as well as providing heat for the top layer. Though this heat isn’t sufficient, it keeps the top part constantly warm without cooling ensuring the heat and cooking to perfection.

On average chicken, beef, pork, potatoes, onions, aubergines, Proveleta cheese and bell peppers filled with egg inside are the main ingredients of the grill. It is usually served with salsa criollo, mayonnaise, salsa golf, ketchup, mate (argentinian infusion like tea), soft drinks, or beer.

Each portion usually weighs around 700 gms.
